Find Ancestors

Hi trying to find a birth certificate for joseph sargeant as per 1901/1911 cencus he was born in 1881 in bethnal green but i can not find his birth certificate his parents was richard and mary A Sargeant (have not got her maidan name) again saying they was born in bethnal green but i cant find a marriage cert either the eldest child in the 1901 census was born in 1873 so they was married before then any help would be great

I would like to say a big thankyou to everbody who helped me with this thread. I am pleased to say with all the information i was given regarding this family was correct I have recieved marriage and birth certificates today and it is deffently is the correct family. Richards marriage cert gave me Joseph mum's Maidan name whiich was Hollington, His birth certificate gave me his parents names which was Richard and Elizabeth ( unfortunally i cant's make out her maidan name yet) and by re looking at Joseph d.o.b i managed to work out that he was not born in 1881 (as per census) it was in fact 1877 and again parents name's all match.

So once again thank you all so much for all your help

Have you searched using phonetic search...........

The birth of a child does not necessarily prove that they were married................

no i havent how do you do that sorry for being a bit stupid but i am new to all this

On freebmd.....just below the main search boxes are a number of options.........one of them being Phonetic search surname.

Not knowing something doesn't mean you are stupid.....just that you are learning how things work.

If the father is genuinely a gun maker - there are some very good records for people who have served that apprenticeship. Have a google search for them. One chap has kept records of families and baptisms of gunmakers back to about 18th century and may be able to help.

thants great i could not find them on the 1871 census i also could not find them on the 1881 i never new they had a sister called elizabeth so that could be a good lead every year their dob seem to change ive just been trying to trace something on the web site for gun makers in london around that time but that is giving me a blank as well
