I believe that we were on the right track with Margaret Ann Bell marrying James Boardman and then living with Bannister Longworth until his death. Perhaps it would be an Idea to summerise the events in her life and see how they look.

I think you really need your grandfather's birth certificate to prove his mothers maiden name as this reg if it is him seems to indicate it was Boardman

Helen, I see from your Grandads army records that he worked for Messrs Wm Pickup for 10 years as a Tinsmith. That tends to prove that it is the correct family in 1911 as one of his sisters married William Pickup.

Your Grandpa had it pretty rough in his life time!

Yes he did work for wm pickup and my mum has just told me that was her uncle Bill. On his army records he his down as william L Bell.

Yes he did have it rough, but like my mum says nothing ever stopped him producing children lol. She said they were very poor but they were always well fed and warm, but she did say sometimes she wished she could have had a new dress instead of a full tummy. my surviving relatives all have a good sense of humour and i think this came from Grandad.
I wish i could have met them.
