You are just so ahead of me every step; I was just saying to claim Ellen in the thread ...

I'll take a shot at Lavinia/Beatrice:

Births Jun 1898
NELSON Lavinia Beatrice W. Ham 4a 100

Well, I picked a dud. No death as so far transcribed, no marriage (as Beatrice L or Lavin* B) that looks likely.

Viv, if I didn't have to keep going to read your rude PMs, I'd have time to catch up!!

JaneyCanuck Report 19 Oct 2009 18:57

This appears to be Frederick:

Births Dec 1896
Nelson Frederick W. Ham 4a 85

With no middle name, my hopes for him are low.

... of the few Fredericks with no middle initial who married 1914-1925, none is in a likely location. Kensington 1919 ... but I wouldn't trace that one without the certificate confirming identity, I think. In any event, there appear to be no births to that marriage.

I did look at CWGC for a possible WWI death, but none matched.

Janey

Whats wrong with this one ?ok she would only have been 16/17,but I married at 16 and mother was 17!

Marriages Dec 1915 (>99%)

Nelson Beatrice L Johnson W.Ham 4a 5

JaneyCanuck Report 19 Oct 2009 19:13

Yes, I probably must have started my search at 1916. I live such a sheltered life. I'll pursue that one. Get your own. Or show me up on Frederick ...

(I know what I'll claim as the problem. No.1 just stuck my very first ever patch on me about an hour ago. I think I'm ODing ...)

Finished one of Ellens childrens line, well I hope its her line ,down to a 1973 marriage and pms with details sent.

Births Dec 1903 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nelson Ada Violet W. Ham 4a

I will take her next after a little longer with Ellens other children.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 19 Oct 2009 19:46

Only had luck with one of Ellens children.
Ada Violet Nelson only had one child, that I could find, followed through to 1963 to 1974 births.
Pm sent to Stephen who has gone Awol by the lack of response.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 19 Oct 2009 19:51

I've sent two likely births for Nelson-Johnson, ruled out some others, found a possible marriage of one child with two possible children, and a possible marriage for one. Suggested a couple of tree matches.

I'll wait for feedback now too.

FannyByGaslight Report 19 Oct 2009 19:51

You can let us know what you think on here Stephen.
We only pm details that are about the living for privacy sake, the rest can go on here.
My modesty allows me to let the "other"see how good I am at some things.
Viv blows on nails again......

Should I remember the Quanticks? It's this nicotine ... and the surgery-induced astigmatism ... a one-eyed jittery person who got too little sleep and has a long night's work preparing to arrive in the inbox in an hour or so ...

Search for Nelson Quantick finds me this:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.asp?wci=thread&tk=1137188

?

Don't make me read that again ... not related, are they?

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 19 Oct 2009 20:22

I dont know if they are related and not about to go digging ,but the name Quantick I did remember from somewheres on here...
The only place I am off to now is a nice warm bath.

Later alligators.

Sorry, if I am tardy in response on here but had to take nap - aforementioned health problem.

Cases of wine to Viv and Janey so far - actual not virtual.

I am slotting all this into the tree on the wall and will test it at some time - the real test is talking to Kunta Kinte's descendants I presume when I find them.

Ellen / Nellie still presents a problem for me as I think this was a cousin. - details as previously stated.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 19 Oct 2009 21:17

How does Ellen/ Nelly present a problem?

I thought I had followed her down quite nicely,do you think I have the wrong Ellen?

Leslie

Leslie Report 19 Oct 2009 21:35

Nelly Lily was born 1903 or q3/1902.

There is another Ellen turning up on the searches I think 2 years apart.

That dratted west ham district again. good god they must have bred faster than V bombers

One irony is that there does not appear to be any child mortality appearing.

Leslie

Leslie Report 19 Oct 2009 21:41

Sorry I was being imprecise.

Ellen Edith 1`903 q1 ref# west ham 4a 110

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 19 Oct 2009 22:16

Got your meaning on Ellen now.
I would go for Ada Violets line out of my offerings as I am 99% sure I have her lot correct.
Mind you Albert Williams look good too.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 19 Oct 2009 23:28

I got lumbered with a Nelson marrying a Johnson. Not too many of them then!

My grandfather (old weird Ernest's last son - 9th with 7 surviving) was born in West Ham in 1901. Maybe we're related. ;)

Don't forget there could have been mortality between censuses. I only learned of a couple of Ernest's uncles and aunts, for instance, by finding a batch baptism that included children not in any census because they were born and died between. And that surname was Hill, in Devon, so there's no way I can ever be sure there weren't more.

Good Morning (UK time), all,

Sylvia, I am beginning to fully understand what this dynamic duo are achieving on my behalf.

What is being especially cheering is the humour and banter. It has cheered me up enormously.

I think I am right in my concern for Nelly / Ellen but am sure the rest are bankable.

Lavina Beatrice Johnson nee Nelson died o 13th March 1933 and she is buried in the next plot to Horace, Winifred and Pauline at east London Cemetery. I have the interment certificate. It must be getting crowded in there.
