looking to find my great grandfathers birth certificate. George Micheal Woods died in Silvertown in 1903, at the age of 37 - 39, buried in Leytonstone. His wife and children immigrated to Canada in 1909. His father was John Micheal Woods. Would like info on the Woods family in the London area

His age here is given as 37:

Many thanks for the replies. I do have his death certificate and the 1901 census but looking for his birth certificate and his parents and siblings. Mrs Woods and the family went to Canada with Mr May and his family in 1909. I have traced them to there but not a marriage certificate for them either in Canada or UK.
I see on the death cert his age is listed at 37 but in 1901 he was 37 too. Is this discrepency normal??

There is a marriage for a George Michael Woods but it's not to a Rose.

No I haven't found a marriage certificate for George Micheal Woods and Rosetta Agnes Hills or Hill. Her fathers name was George Hils and maiden name of mother was Maud????? This is from her death cert from Canada. Many thanks for you help

I cant see George Michael woods birth in any combination but this is Alexanders.

The only Michael Woods born in Devon and showing on censuses is the one with parents John and Maria.

And he does not appear to have legally wed Rose for some reason as none of us have been able to find their marriage.

Maybe she was married to someone else and couldnt legally marry Mr Woods?

As an answer to your question re John Micheal Woods being George Woods father, I'm going on verbal family history. My aunt has a receipt for George's funeral and she said that it was his father. But looking to prove it somehow???.

In answer to your question about the family census in 1911. They are there under the name of May as they came to Canada with Alfred May and his 3 children. I can't find a marriage cert for Rose Woods or Hill and Mr May. According to the family the first Mrs May died in UK.
