You can search the 1911 census by name & occupation

I have found my man using his name, occupation Coal and his area - yipee, except I'm not signed up and don't have credits, oh well he's there and can wait for another day. It's amazing what's out there,

HOUSEHOLD JONES WILLIAM M 1892 19 West Derby Lancashire

Thanks to everyone for your help, happy researching

Oh Maureen that's brilliant and it explains why I couldn't see Catherine on the 1911 census.

Oh yay you've just added another generation for me, terrific!!!

THANK YOU 8 )

Hi, have glanced at this thread now and then as I used to live in Liverpool. I notice you mention Aigburth STREET - I used to live off Aigburth ROAD. Were they one and the same at one time? At the top or 'dead' end of Aigburth Road was Ullet Road and Park Road. Just curious really!!

Where did my reply go? It was long too! I'll do it again 8 )

I'm in Sydney and have no idea except for the 1930s map and google maps.

1930s Aigburth is S for street and goes from Smithdown Lane to Upper Parliament Street.

Google maps shows it in the triangle of Smithdown Ln, Upper Parliament and joining on to Malt St . I don't see an Ullet or Park Rd but I think my Aigburth is West Derby. Does that make sense???

I've looked up the FreeBMD for William Jones and Mary Ellen & found
Wm Jones & Mary Ellen Lyons Sept 1890 - happy with that

Looked up Birth for Mary Ellen Lyons & found
a. 1872 Mar Chorlton
b. 1872 Jun Liverpool
c. 1873 Sep West Derby

My question is, which one covers Toxteth Park Liverpool?

Hi Karen, will pm you. Didn't know about Aigburth St.!

BH1 it with be the Liverpool one. West Derby was a registration district in its own right.

From 1881-1922, Toxteth Park became a registration district in its own right and then reverted back to Liverpool. The entry you need is just before that time.

If you go back to the entry on freebmd, click on the word Liverpool and a new box will open. It tells you which areas are covered and it includes Toxteth Park. Hope that helps.
