Member Since: June 2003 Posts: 9,301 Send Message	No we've checked him and he didn't marry Ada, so don't get that cert. Your bloke consistently says he's born Lichfield in 1862. As the census is taken in late March/early April it means he was probably born sometime between March 1861 & March 1862. These are the males born in Staffordshire at that time. Births Mar 1861 COLLIER Frederick Burton upon Trent 6b 2_8 Births Jun 1861 no males Births Sep 1861 COLLIER John Stone 6b 32 Births Dec 1861 COLLIER Edwin Burton 6b 270 COLLIER William Kings N 6c 403 COLLIER William Thomas Newcastle L. 6b 60 - found not to be your bloke. Births Mar 1862 COLLIER John Stourbridge 6c 195 COLLIER John Stourbridge 6c 196 COLLIER Joseph Burton 6b 287 COLLIER Walter Stoke T 6b 202 It is quite possible he wasn't born in Staffordshire at all but moved there when he was little and didn't know otherwise. Can't find a Thomas Collier in 1871 that would fit. Ozi

I am researching my grandfather who was a gamekeeper in Staffordshire and am trying to find all keepers in the area in the 1900's. I have William Collier b Audley Staffs 1862 at Reule Cottage Haughton in 1911. Can you tell me any more about him please? Thanks Helen

	just to prove the Thomas /Ada shown in 1881 is the right one Staffordshire Birth indexes for the years: 1879 Surname Forename(s) Sub-District Registers At Mother's Maiden Name Reference COLLIER Sidney Thomas Lichfield Newcastle-Under-Lyme FAIRBROTHER L/46/55 edit just realised this is an old thread
