That's terrific - at least it confirms that the people in the 1901 and 1911 censuses -- Ellen and Annie Stembridge -- are all the same, with parents Thomas and Ellen. That father Thomas in 1901 was a wine & spirit merchant's cellarman.

(MrsG -- the 1901 is right near the top of page 1.)

What Tracey needs is the Annie + Edward marriage certificate to find out who her Annie's father was, now!

Didn't spot that 1901 - but it matches which at least, as you say, connects them in.

I cannot spot Annie and Edward's marriage - tried all sorts of combos. I wonder if they married in a registry office maybe? Either that or they are both mistranscribed!

The marriage is at about mid-page 1:

Marriages Jun 1912
Buck Edward A Stembridge Islington 1b 675
STEMBRIDGE Annie Buck Islington 1b 675

Tracey, you really really do have to start there.

Unless, MsG, that super index I don't pay for access to at Ancestry has that one too??

That's where I've been looking Janey - but they are parish records and would not include the registry offices - which is why I wondered.

If Edward - born JunQ 1912 - is their son, which seems highly likely - then the marriage also in JunQ 1912 probably DID happen in a registry office.

I think the only certain thing is to send off for that marriage cert ...

Ah. ;)

Yup. Tracey -- do get the Annie + Edward marriage certificate.

When you receive it, come on back to this thread -- click "My threads" over on the left side to find it any time. And add a post with all the info from the marriage certificate (place, ages, fathers, witnesses) and we'll return to the charge!
