Hi there

Alice Graham married a John Morgan.

Not sure if they married in Salford, Manchester or either of the following:-

Co Fermanagh, Enniskillen
Co Tyrone
Co Antrim Belfast
Co Down

The plot thickens :(

hang on...were her parents Irish?

MaureeninNY Report 15 Jan 2010 18:51

That's what I was afraid of!!!!

I think Ginny's 1891 is probably right. Annie was born in Ireland,so there's a slight chance that she and Henry were married there. (if there really was a Henry)

I don't see any sign of the 1 month old Mary Catherine marrying or dying in England.

Hmmm.

hi

Not sure about where alice & johns children were born?

Their daughter Mary Ellen Morgan was my grandmother. All i know is she was buried in belfast round about 1960/1961.

My learning from this is to look at all the births on a census! Yours Susan....mention any connections to other places!

So it looks like they went back to Ireland if the daughter was burried there

We could have solved this 'yonks' ago I think if we'd had the Irish connection lol

Thank You Maureen for 'butting' in late into this thread!

hi there

Ginny..

On checking the 1891 census for "Annie Grahams" place of birth is listed as ireland - just noticed!

So - do you think annie bradley and henry graham were married in ireland somewhere? Why would they come to salford? If the 1891 census is right and henry grahams death is correct, had annie decided to go back to ireland?

This is all very confusing :(

Susan

You'll need to send for the death certificate of Henry to find out more info.

I cant help with the Irish side of the family.

You need to work back from YOU and see what pops up. Someone came back to England as you are here......I think!!!!

hi there ginny

Last week you kindly helped me with information on alice bradley/henry graham.

Regarding the census 1891 information for annie graham:-

i ordered the birth certificate of the other daughter mary c graham and on it the fathers name is left blank? Don't understand this - can you?

Also got henry grahams death certificate and the informant was a bernard mcevoy not annie graham as hoped.

Still no wiser. :(

Ginny

This is what i don't understand. If annie was married to henry graham and had mary catherine in october 1890, Henry graham died in december 1890,so why wasn't he named as her father on marys birth certificate?

sue:(

Gee

Gee Report 22 Jan 2010 18:11

Hmmmm

Tough one, lets speculate at this point!

That death may or may not be your Henry. Or..............

could Annie have become pregnant by another man and 'split' from Henry, hence no father's name on the birth certificate of little Mary?

Again, all speculation at this juncture.

Let's not over look that in the 91 census Annie was living with Pat Symth the lodger....really, was he only a lodger?

Hi Ginny

Why was mary catharine named "graham" then? This Pat smyth who is named on census comes from ireland, but i don't recall any family link to him.

The expression 'keeping up appearances' comes to mind!
