Where are you James?

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 12 Dec 2010 20:49

LK, earlier on the thread James admits to forgetting to look for replies!!

Earlier in the year he was advised by several folk that it was highly unlikely that any of 'his' Smiths and Taylors would see this thread but he persists in nudging it up the boards.

James Report 13 Dec 2010 13:15

Dear Readers,

Here's some of the info I have. Some kind people are offering to help me and I do have some research results so I would hate to think of anyone going over old ground. Any help will be welcomed.

I was born : MICHAEL JOHN TAYLOR and I was adopted by Ivy and James Williamson, who then lived at 49 Morville Street in Bow London E.3.

DOB: 25.03.48
Time: 8pm
Place: Lewisham Hospital High Street
London SE13 6LH

Birth mother’s name Ellen Taylor nee Smith
But on my adoption papers she
Names herself as Ellen Patricia Taylor and
Ivy told me that she liked to be called Pat

Age of Ellen at my birth: 29 years

I know my time of birth NOT because I am a twin, but because I obtained this information from the Birth Register Book at Lewisham Hospital where I was born. Lewisham, Hospital have no other records for me or for Ellen. I have asked them.

Research: I have a possible marriage certificate for an Edward Taylor & Ellen Smith who were married on the 29.06.40

If my mother was 29 on the 25.03.48 she would have been born between 26th March 1918 and 25th March 1919, on the provisio that Ellen was honest about her age when I was born.

Ivy Williamson told me that I have siblings, their names and approximate ages.

Siblings Sister: Pauline
possibly Pauline Jean Taylor
DOB 26.08.41

With regard to Pauline I do have a birth cert for a Pauline Jean Taylor who is 99.9999% related to the couple in the marriage cert that I have. I have not found this couple nor this Pauline. However, whilst they are most definitely related to one and other, they may not be related to me. BUT the age of the Ellen on the marriage cert fits in with the age my Ellen should be.

Sister: Irene
DOB: 1943 (appx)

Brother: Ronald (Ronnie) Taylor
DOB: 1945

Sister: Sheila Taylor
DOB: 1947

I was adopted by:
Ivy Edith Williamson
&
James Edward Williamson
who resided at 49 Morville Street
Bow London E.3
They had care of me from 10.01.49 and
Adopted me on: 22 September 1949

The address on my birth certificate is 103 Sibthorpe Road, Lewisham. My mum then apparently lived over a cycle shop at 95, Solbay Street near Mile End E.3. and also over a Café in Three Mill lane, in Bow E.3.

Given the date of birth of my mother it is highly possible that she may no longer be alive, but to trace one of my long siblings would be fantastic.

I do have my adoption papers,

I have had several offers of help which is very kind, and I do not want to waste peoples time by letting them go over ground already covered.

Kindest regards

James

It would be really helpful James if you could tell us if you have tried the suggestions made by LK.

Have you contacted the people who have those names in their tree to see if they are the people you are looking for? That is the best way of making a connection on this site. Cx

James Report 18 Dec 2010 08:36

Hi Cynthia

I am now in contact with LK and following her helpful hints. We now wait. I had already conacted a lot of people who had these names in their trees but that was some time ago. Many are still in my list of contacts, but there are many that are not, whom I assume are new to the site. As I said, we now wait. What a Christmas gift it would be to find my family.

Kindest regards

James

Can anyone help. I am looking for someone who lives near Beckenham Cemetery, who might be willing to go and find a headstone for me. I have the grave number, but I am in Spain. Perhaps there is somoen there that might be willing to help. If so can you buzz me, regards james

James, unfortunately, this site does not work quite like that. The helpers here are based all around the world and, unless they specifically look at your post, they simply will not see your request.

It would probably be more helpful to you to register with Rootschat - it's free.

They divide their boards into countries and counties and you are far more likely to get someone in the Beckenham area by posting on their Kent page.

I hope this helps. Cynthia.

Hi can anyone help me? I need someone who lives near to Beckenham Cemetery, who might be willing to go there for me. Yes I know it might seem a cheek, but I live in Spain so its not that easy for me. I have details of someone who is burried there plot number etc, and I want to know what it says (if anything0 on the headstone. Also, if the cemetery has records at all of people who are buried there. Name of undetakers etc. Anything might help.

LadyKira Report 21 Jan 2011 21:00

Why Beckenham James?
Do you have some more clues?
Please share them if you have.
There are other cemetries in the area and certainly nearer to Sibthorpe road.
I visited someone on Sibthorpe Road last week.
The houses look as if they were built in the thirties so would have been new at the time she lived there.

Hi LK...I have let James know about the replies and he said he would take a look.........doesn't look like he's been back though.

He still seems to think that a relative will stumble on this thread.....sigh.
