Yes Rose sorry you did .......but we did understand Eva went into service very young so am supprised she was on the census

9 seems a little young to be in service. 12 or 13 would be more likely.

You've got to have stuffed up on your dates to think a 4 y o boy is writing love letters to an 8 y.o. girl who's in service in 1911.

yes I agree with you both on the letter thing but we have them and I,m about to read them for the first time .....didnt like to till I had spoken to x-hubby

That isnt all we were told she was younger than him BUT when I found the birth records on BMDFREE it clearly shows he was the younger so ...I guess to be totally sure of all this info anyway I do need to get certificates

her name on here grave stone is Eva MAY not margareta so thats odd to BUT we didnt do her stone her other son did and we have been told he has passed away to

But Thanks againfor your great kindness and I will up date this when I have the certificate

I've come across several examples where May and Margery were used interchangeably in 19th cent Aberdeenshire. I had heard that, more generally, May was regarded as a pet form for Margery and Margaret, but I've come across no other instances of this.
