Trying to find details of my lost grandparents. Joan & Leonard x

Joan (or joanne) Elizabeth Hughan 26.03.1922 may have been born in the isle of man. Who were her grand parents and did she have any siblings ??

My grandfather who was born Leonard Hindley, born probably around 1917, his farther was killed in the war and was taken in by the KILLEY family . He then became known as Leonard Hindley Killey. He married Joan around 1941 - 1944 possibly in the Isle of Man, Leonard died in 1965 aged 48.

Trying to abtain a copy of both birth certificates and a copy of their marrage cert as well.

Who were their parents ??

Did they have any siblings ??

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Flick, sorry I dont know hes a mystery having died so young himself? His father died in the war when he was a baby and was taken in by another family (Killey)

Yes Joan Killey re-married in 1965 i believe a man called Leslie Theodore Hakesley.

Thanks for vol and index information on Leonard, do you have any information on his birth i have searched myself but am unable to find anything? there is some mention that he might of married J Hughan in the iom ??

Leonards the mystery man, have searched for a long time for details of his birth, so i can obtain a copy of his birth certificate. All searched exhausted :(

The same applies to Joan Hughan i can find anything listed for her birth either :( :(

Did your search find the marriage of Killey/Hughan in 1941-1944 listed anywhere ??
Even though i know the dob of both grandparents, why is is so difficult to find there births registered anywhere ?? is it because they may have been born in the isle of man ??

It says they will do look-ups in their records. They might charge of course. The information on the site is from 2007, so might be out of date.

Just looked at the site suggested, yes they do charge and i have to register first. Is this the only site that holds records for the iom ? Im not even sure if that is where both of my g/parents originally came from ?

I googled Isle of Man bmds, that seemed the best, but have a go.

I can't find any marriage in England and Wales.
