	Dinas Powys is almost a suburb of Cardiff - nothing to do with Dinas near Pontypridd and Bridgend is too far away

	there are a few Hawkins in Dinas Powys in the current Cardiff telephone directory

	the village is called Dinas Powys - always has been called that - nothing to do with Dinas or Powys!!! they are entirely separate places Dinas POwys is about two or three miles outside Cardiff city centre

I'm not really too sure of who he was as he is my partner's great grandfather and his grandfather died a few years ago so I can't find anymore facts out. I do know that he went on to marry a woman named Elsie English and they had 6 children. I really appreciate the help as you have given me a starting point.. Thanks again!
