Brian Report 23 Mar 2010 21:04

Basic information I know to be correct,
My Grandfather was Frederick McArthur born 1886 in Marlebone London he had a brother George born 1883 Brighton,
Frederick married Mary Henderson 1910 Edinburgh, on the 1901 census they are with Frederick's parents at Station Hotel Cupar.
Great Grandfather
George William McArthur not sure birth 1854-1859 probably Newington London as 1891 census states he married Eliza Andrews 1882 Marlebone London Crawford St,occupation Lithographic Printer? on all other certificates is Waiter,
No known death for G W McArthur but his wife remarried in Edinburgh and on that cert she was a widow date 1914 he was at both sons marriages 1910 Edinburgh and 1912 Perth for George.

I asked a famous Geneaoligist who was on Who Do You Think You Are to find my Great Grandfather George William McArthur he got back to me with his findings I paid and for 2 years I expanded my family tree made friends and relatives. Then about a month ago I came across another family tree where my great grandfather had a death when he was I think about 27, I checked this information and it was correct the information I had been given 2 years before was wrong.
I got back to the professional who said he would check and get back to me, he got back next day and said he would look at George William McArthur again. He got back 2 weeks later with a report mostly of all the information I gave him, all I wanted was the correct birth of my GGrandfather and his parents so I could carry on.
George William McArthur married Eliza Andrews 1882 Marlebone London, George was born 1856 Glasgow, Death unknown, children Frederick 1886 Brighton, George 1883 London. Now all I wanted was the birth and mother and father, the father on birth cert is John McArthur mother Mary Maitland he says it ties in with wedding cert but on wedding cert father George William McArthur with no mother mentioned.
I got back to him but he said if I wanted any more research done I would have to pay. what do I do now?

The mother is almost never mentioned on an English marriage certificate .... unless she acts as one of the witnesses.

and if he was indeed born in Scotland, then you need access to Scotland People

In your first post you state that George was born 1856, Glasgow......where did you get this info from as everything is pointing to him being born in 1858/9 Newington?
