That was a good find! Did the death certificate confirm her husband's name? Part of the difficulty here, of course is that not all the 1841 census for Fife survived as some of it met a watery grave!

This gives his father's name as James and occupation as weaver.....Helen(ms Watson)Meldrum death cert gives her as widow of a weaver.....................but .........there were an awful lot of weavers in Dunfermline.

Thanks for the information that you have sent me i have contacted a 3x cousin who is in his 90's, he and his parents lived with Wm. Cooper b1858 for a number of years, he was unaware that richard was previously married & had a son James, we are going to check to see if he came to australia with his half siblings.
