Hi i wonder if anyone has a few minutes if they could help me. I have a Frederick Carter 1881 in Stenning, Surrey. He was married to a lady called Mary Ann. I dont have her surname. I have found on the 1901 Census some possibilities that would be a long shot and one that is likely to be him but i cant be sure so would like another opionion. |

Louise, not quite sure what you're after here. How do you know he married a Mary Ann? |

This looks like the birth reg. for Gentina....if you purchase this it will confirm parents names including mothers maiden name... |

OK the spelling was right!! I know it gets expensive but there are times when a cert becomes necessary and this might be one of them: |

In answer to your original question....... yes there is a chance that this may be the correct Frederick G Carter but....... by the same note it may not be, there could have been more than one Frederick G. Carter born Surrey c1881 |

If I was you I would buy Gentina's birth certificate first to establish her mother's maiden name. If it turns out to be Swan then you can be pretty certain that we have given you the right marriage in Tonbridge. Then you have to decide whether or not to buy the marriage certificate as this is the only way to be certain of Frederick's father's name so you can be sure you have the right family in the 1901 census. |

Thanks so much for all of your replies. Think the best thing to do is wait until i have moved house and order some certificates. I have spent 3 years finding Gentina and her marriage etc as her name is spelt differently on all registrations incl 1911, birth, marriage and death. I am sure another few months wont make too much difference. lol. It was a long shot so thanks for all your help guys Nobody ever said family history was a quick proccess lol. |
