Moody Blue Report 19 Jun 2010 13:59

Could this possibly be her marriage in London?

England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005

Spouse Surname: Burt
Date of Registration: Oct-Nov-Dec 1950
Registration district: Hampstead
Registration county (inferred): Middlesex

If so, what fathers name did she put down?

Angela

Angela Report 19 Jun 2010 14:03

Hello Moody Blue, yes this is the marriage, Robert Burt was my husbands uncle, his mums brother, the confusion is, that it is Coats for the marriage & birth, so I know the mums name was Hayter, so maybe the spelling of Coates is down to the person who filled in the cert.

Moody Blue

Moody Blue Report 19 Jun 2010 15:21

Perhaps if you were to purchase the birth certificate for Dorothy it would hopefully give you mothers maiden name, fathers name & occupation and then maybe we could confirm some details. Also the marriage certificate should provide the fathers name & occupation.

You really do need to purchase Dorothys birth certificate to confirm her parentage as otherwise all this info is sheer speculation.

Hi Moody Blue, Dorothy Constance did die in 1999, it was a Sunday & the same days as my cat, these are the right people, the suicide of John Coats, was never talked about, & as I see they are from quite a weathly & upstanding family I can see why, my mother in law who was the sister in law of Dorothy Constance, (we always knew her as Constance) told me about it, this is one reason why I can't get any info fom our cousin Jennifer ( daughter of Dorothy Contance).

Angela, there is another GR member who has researched the same family. Her name is Christine. If you put in the search trees facility the name John Coats 1884 you should find her. She has him born in South Africa which would account for me not being able to find his birth reference. She also has Millicent Hayter etc.
