Find Ancestors

Cyril Short is my Grandfather but he left before my mother was born and we dont know much about him at all. He was born about 1909 and married a Joan Briscoe ( my Grandmother). I think he was married before because I have found a valentines poem and a few notes to a Marrion Short dated 1941.

I dont know where he comes from but while he was with my grandmother he was in Prestwich, Lancashire. His father was George Thomas Short.

If anyone could help me find anything out about my grandad I would be extremely thankful.

That would give you his birthplace.

Can't see a marriage on freebmd for Cyril and Joan.

Thank you everyone for helping me with finding my grandad.

Im just wondering, on the birth and death certificate and the cencus that you've all found it says he was born in 1903/04 but on the original marriage certificate i have it says he ws born 1909. Could he of lied to make himself a bit younger?

My grandad said he was 29 on his marriage cert in 1929 had trouble finding him until I ordered a birth cert for someone born 1897 3 years older and it turns out to be him.
A 7 year age gap between my nan and him did'nt sound as bad as 10 I would think

On my grandparents marriage cert it has my grandad as age 21 even though he was 34.
My Mum and grandma could never reason why he would have lied, because he never hid his real age, so we put it down to there being an error that nobody ever picked up on, or bothered to get corrected!!!

Where there are age discrepancies, don't rule them out entirely! People do make mistakes!

Wow, 13 years, that is a big difference!

I suppose my Grandad thought a 22 year age gap between him and my Grandma was better then a 28 year age gap :-)

I know my grandads age was not a mistake unless he did'nt know how old he was?
Even his death registration says he was born in 1900 because thats what everyone was told he died with my nan so whether she knew or not we will never know now
