hi ive only just joined here,and trying to find my grandad,his name was jonathan carr,he was married twice his second marrage,to margrate,they had 2 boys ernest ,my dad and his brother jack,the lived in thatto heath st.helens,his first marrage produced 3 girls elizabeth ,,jane,,and ellen,and a son john,i new john and jack but not the girlsi am trying to find out were jonathan was born,can anyone help ,,ty pam,,

for your father's birth registration, providing it was between late 1911 and the late 1930's, you should find his mother's maiden surname.

Sure that your uncle was Jack and not Joseph? Seems odd to have 2 sons called John and Jack. Jack was usually a nickname for John years ago.

Anyway, looks like your dad was born 1921, making Joseph a sibling.

I couldn't find a Jackson/Carr marriage that fits so I guessed Margaret was married before. I then looked for a Margaret A Jackson marrying an Unsworth and there was only one match and it was in Prescot.

Prescot is the registration district for St Helens.

the children from margrets ist marrage were young but her children to my grandad ernest and joseph were alot oldermust be 20yrs between them and her others from her 1st marrage.so dont understand that,

daughter jane was at school in 1906 but my dad ernest wasnt born till 1921,could these younger children have been her step children ?
