Yes, Andrew. I posted that 1871 above. THAT is the Caroline who married Henry Webster, I believe.

And a woman with a child getting married might just call herself a widow. ;)

thank you all for all of your quick input, although I am still a little confused about who is who, I did feel that her third marriage to George Edwards three years after her second mrriage was a little quick, but who knows what went on then.
I will keep digging.

Many thanks to all you wonderful people.

Yes, RR. That 1881 mother and son are in the 1871, which makes that Caroline *not* the Caroline married to Brazendale who subsequently married Edwards.

OUR Caroline was pretty likely just born Webster.

-- edit -- the big problem, B, is that you stated things in the OP as fact that you did not know to be fact, and that evidently weren't. If you had the marriage certificates in question, you would have seen this, I think.

And could ANYBODY -- like maybe the person who started the thread -- respond to my suggestion for the actual question asked?

Births Sep 1866
Webster Abbot M Blything 4a 626

Unfortunately the Caroline Webster / Edwards marriage has her father James 'Dec'd...but no occupation given

JaneyCanuck, my apologies for not responding as quickly as I would have liked, it is just that you have all given me so much to think about I am a little overawed by it all. In answer to your question yes there is a possibility that Abbot could have been misheard as Herbert, this is something that I am going to have to look into.
Many thanks.

Andy,

Can i ask where you got this information from, I use "thegenealogist" website and I am unable to find them, even when I put in the street address they dont appear to be there. I am beginning to pull out what little hair i have remaining!!

I think unless you have something concrete B that Caroline Brazendale is not the same person as Caroline Webster ...

JaneyCanuck Report 25 Aug 2010 20:29

It has nothing to do with "as quickly as I would have liked".

The question you actually asked was about the birth of Herbert (M) Webster. That was the only suggestion offered in answer.

Rambling Rose, you are a treasure, many thanks for all your efforts

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 25 Aug 2010 22:43

Rose, I agree. Of the few Carolines the right age in Southwold, I had considered her -- and duh, didn't make the Major connection.

He's Herbert, not Henry, though. ;)
