Hi,

Just wondering if anyone can do a look up for Parish records for John Herbert and Gladys Ellen Smith's marriage in september 1915 at all please? as i was told that the original record wont be the same as the marriage cert i have. I have been trying to sort this out all week and i am nearly giving up, my last resort maybe to order the birth cert for Leonard but at the moment i want to see if there is a parish record.

Thankyou for the cert references, i will add them to my list that is growing and growing. Anyone know if the GRO will be reducing the price of certificates at all? I have so many to get.
Edmonton is only up the road from me, i might look for his grave.

Ok about John, but i still find it strange about Houghton. I dont know whether to get the cert or not as 9.25 is alot for a piece of paper if i get the wrong one. Dont you think? Im going to look on Genes see if anyone has the name in their tree first.

I have printed of 36 pages from war records for John Herbert.
From what i have seen, it looks like he was born in Hackney in 1883, his father was John James Herbert of 112 myddelton road and the marriage to Gladys Ellen Smith is there also, so i know i have the right man. Still dont understand the Houghton part.

Wow thankyou. I didnt know any of my nans siblings names etc.. i fifnt know my nan either or her son, my dad. Thankyou for all your help.
I will have to look for marriages and children from the siblings, must be living relatives out there somewhere.
I dont actually know how many pages there are for a soldiers records but 34 seems like alot to me but then i dont know. I will have to find them and have a look.

I have tried looking on this more but not getting far. I have tried looking for John's birth, cant find it.
The death you found is in the right area for where my nan was born.
