im trying to find my grandads death record he was born harry ditchfield hurst march 1891 in gorton manchester the only death record for a h hurst i can find is born 21/12 1890 this is not my grandada

As he was born late December 1890, his birth may have been registered in the next quarter, I E, March Q 1891

That's a death record so he could have died in Clwyd.

Have you got his actual birth cert for the birth date.

no i have notbut he is the only harry ditchfield hurst that ever comes up on searches and its 1891 march

BUT the ref to Mar 1891 is the quarter the birth was registered not the month he was born.
Its a unique name so think its the only one. You NEED to get the actual birth cert for his birth.

Giving you an example. My Dad was born 28th Dec 1907. .you have 42 days ie6 weeks to register a birth, in those days mums didnt leave to house for 21 after the birth,called the lying in period. My gran registered Dad in late Jan 1908 so his birth registration comes under the Mar qtr of 1908.Getting the birth cert for the GRO ref shows his ACTUAL birth date of 28th Dec 1907.

This is the one found by LiverBird1 - It HAS to be him ???

Maybe he was on holiday? - Lots of people from Manchester go to Colwyn Bay for holidays??

This would seem to be his death then, However, are you SURE that 'your' Harry had the middle name Ditchfield because this does not add up?

yes he was married to sophia mayes married in 1959,his mother was sarah ditchfield....hurst father was george hurst born donegal in 1842.....
