Hi
l am going on a hunch that Sarah Mosley remarried after being married to my great grandfather Daniel Logan before remarrying to a William White in 1857
l have been on the family search site and located her marriage to my gt grandfather at St Peters Liverpool in September 1850 listing her father as Samuel Mosely
l do not know places of birth as Sarah gives Liverpool on the 1851and Whitehaven Cumbria same as her husband William on the 61 etc.

l have asked for a look up on sarah a long time ago but l didn't have Samuel as her father then
Please could anyone do a look up for

Samuel Mosley born about 1800
Elizabeth wife born c1800
Sarah born 1828 daughter

Thanks to anyone who may be able to help

ln 1851 my gret grandfather Daniel was born after that there is no sign of Daniel senior but a Sarah Moseley marries William White in 1857 then Daniel junior appears as a lodger/visitor on the 1861 with sarah and husband William

l have looked and looked for a Sarah Thacker marriage to no avail
l wondered if Elizabeth and Samuel parted and she remarried to a Thacker! though l can't find a marriage. lt could be her maiden name.

Young Daniel named 2 of his daughters after Elizabeth and Georgina.

Ah so there is a Elizabeth Thacker in Whitehaven.
ls there any sign of Sarah with them on the 1841please
seems like my hunch has been shot down lol
Unless Sarah's place of birth is wrong on the 1851 with Daniel

Thanks ever so much for your help Flick l really appreciate it

Merry Christmas and all the best for 2011

I know you've found the 1850 marriage record, but I'll be blowed if I can see it anywhere.

Not on freebmd.......or Lancsbmd.........or the familysearch pilot site.

Can you help me by giving the full details, please........

Why would Sarah marry WHITE as Moseley if her name was LOGAN?

Pam

Pam Report 22 Dec 2010 13:39

l found it on the family search site
Daniel Logan married Sarah Mosley 09/09/1850 St Peters Church. Liverpool

l was going on the hunch that my gt gt grandfather Daniel left her or died
l can find no death or remarriage for him.
Possibly Sarah remarried in Moseley.

I agree Flick

I have just been doing the same exercise and like you came up with zilch apart form on the familysearch pilot site where the details are as Pam states (6th Sept 1850)

unfortunately at lan-opc St Peter's marriages only go up to 1841 and they do not appear on lancsbmd but would have expected to find it on freebmd. there is one where there isa possible marriage to a Daniel Lyon (correctly transcribed)

the marriage to White does appear on lancsbmd and would have expected to be in the name Sarah Logan

Flick

Flick Report 22 Dec 2010 13:43

I've now found the familysearch record......as above

I wonder why it isn't on freebmd?

I've checked the Sep 1850 GRO image for the name LOGAN...definitely no Daniel

lancashireAnn Report 22 Dec 2010 13:49

there are 2 marriage for a Sarah Mosely to a William White on the familysearch pilot site, one the father is a Robert Mosely and the other no father named but she was age 21 ie born 1836

edit
so in 1850 she would only have been 14yrs old (not impossible I know)

Pam

Pam Report 22 Dec 2010 13:50

Thanks Flick and lancashireAnn for your interest

Maybe they are not one and the same person after all.

lt just seemed such a coincidence that my gt gt grandfathers wife had the same maiden name as the woman his son lived with as a lodger/visitor on the 1861.

Do you have the birth cert for Daniel born 1851?

Is the postem on freebmd yours Pam?

Why, if they really were married, would both parents register the birth separately?

lancashireAnn

lancashireAnn Report 22 Dec 2010 13:57

I wonder if the answer to the Daniel Logan age 10 in 1861 is possibly from what you have put in a postem for his birth in 1851. Do you have the certificates

postem
This is the same person as 20 339 Daniel was registered by each parent. Daniel and Sarah formerly Moseley

this is usually the case where the parents are not married
reg Sep qtr 1851 - he would only have been 9yrs old when the census was taken

edit
If he was born at the beginning of march & not reg until April he would have been 10 on 1861 - sorry

Hi lancashireAnn

l could only find the one marriage before in 1857 though Sarah states she was born 1828 on census

l wondered why l couldn't find the marriage on freebmd maybe it's wrongly transcribd on the familysearch site

l have searched for their marriage for 5 years without luck and thought l had hit the jackpot when l saw that one.

Oh well back to the drawing board l suppose.

Thanks for your help both of you

Kind regards

Pam

lancashireAnn Report 22 Dec 2010 14:01

you could try the sept qtr one for Sarah Mosely - the registrar could have misheard the name and written it as Daniel Lyon (one of the grooms in the page list) - or he misread his own writing when copying for the gro index Logan - Lyon - v similar in old style handwriting

Pam

Pam Report 22 Dec 2010 14:01

Yes l have Daniel juniors birth cert
His parents were living at the same address
l thought Daniel may have registered his son while drunk!
l never thought of them living apart when he was born.

Pam

Pam Report 22 Dec 2010 14:07

l am sending for it after xmas not trusting to the xmas post. l only saw it 2 days ago on family search.
ln my haste l thought if there was a Sarah with parents Samuel and Elizabeth on the 1841 l just thought it could be a start on her while waiting. l never thought it would be so much trouble as it is turning out to be.

l will let you both know wether or not it turns out to be the right marriage

Thanks again

looking at the list of names on that record of a marriage in set qtr 1850 and using familysearch pilot

Hankin married Moss, Owens married Knowles, Piercy married Griffiths all on 7/8 Sept at St Peter's, leaving the names Mosley & Lyon

There is NO match for a Daniel Lyon on family search which seems to me to indicate that one of the names Lyon/Logan is wrong
