where was william born?

if he died 1829 then these are not him either. they may be wheelwright and puplicann but they certainly do not fit.

you say you have got to him through william bennion but you have not given us any details. to work with. you may have the information but we do not.

Unless Tom comes up with a proper set of facts, detailing the line from Bennion to Allmand, I don't propose to spend any further time on this

The age in 1851 is actually 62...........not as transcribed

I dont see why you need to know the line up to Robert. All i want to know is if he was a mayor or councillor of somesort. Thank you for the help flick im sorry i got some of the facts wrong, you dont need to help if its such a bother to you!
Ok so the facts are Robert Allmand born 1788 Clutton to John Allman and Rachel Rowcraft. Robert married Susanna Lee in 1818, they had 3 children that i know of John 1819 Martha 1822 and Robert 1822.
Susanna died in 1824 and Robert married Mary Roberts in 1826.

Robert was listed as a wheelwright and a publican. A relative (now deceased) claims he was a publican, timber merchant and the mayor of wrexham

You have alread said the spelling of the name varies .... and you have been working with this man for some time, so you have it all in your head.


You're asking for help from us

.............. We need to get our heads around Robert Allmand, your man, so that we can sort out which one he might be from any number of others with similar names


you're working off a story ............. you've already been told that Wrexham did not have a Mayor until 1857, yet you won't give us the information we need to be able to follow the trail, and give you what you obviously so desperately crave ............. a NAME in yoru background!

So I assume, Tom, that you have the marriage certificate for this pair, which confirms her father as Robert, a wheelwright and publican. Is that right?

Unfortunately she isn't with her parents in 1841, so there's no other way of confirming her father.

that is one robert almond but in that case tom has not got the right death.

Madmeg yes this is the right family, nad yes the marriage cert does confirm the father to be Robert.
I havent got a death for robert, 1859 was suggestewd by another member on this thread, so its quite possible that the abouve robert allmond is the same man.

According to what Tom has most recently said, Martha was born in 1822, so she is the wrong age to be Martha Bennion age 25 in 1851.

This is on the new fmailysearch ...... and I guess is what om is accepting as "his"

I didn't say anything about trying to help you being a bother to me............but you have been chopping and changing your dates, which hasn't made research easy, and it has taken you some time to respond to the questions posed..

Your 'story' about Robert being a Mayor of Wrexham is not borne out by the facts as we have been able to uncover them.

He was living in Flintshire in 1851, and would have been nearly 70 years old when the first Mayor of Wrexham was appointed. (1857)

Perhaps it was another Robert Allmand who held an official position in Wrexham.....

we were given such sparse info at the begining of this thread that kept changing as we went along. i believe the confusion has been clarified now. so is irelevant.
i spent many hours on this on google and other records without sucess and without much help from tom and i have now moved on.
