So was this Robert Corkill related to Margaret's mother who was also a Corkill?

Were Margaret and Robert actually cousins ?

thanks again for your help in this. I suspect that the past is too murky and illegitimate to ever find out the truth. However, I am going to progress on the assumption that the Robert and Walter identified above were illegitimate offspring of Mary who eventually married George Moore.

It is likely that Robert turned out to be like-father-like-son and I will never be able to positively identify him as my natural grandfather!!

thanks again and best wishes to you all

Hi David
I have information about Margaret Mylecraine which might help you. If you lived in Aigburth as a child with siblings Margaret, Christine and Valerie and mother named Terry then I would like to get in touch
