What Flick meant, I think, was Did you buy the 1938 certificate or did it come down through the family?

To answer your original question - it doesn't look as though Constance Robinson was a sibling of your mother-in-law.

Sorry it's actually ALBERT. I am in possession of the cerificate

Flick Report 5 Mar 2011 22:37

Let's get something cleared up

You keep referring to ALFRED...............the only records found are for ALBERT

Which is the CORRECT name?

ALL the names are clearly shown on the 1911 census transcription - I'm not sure why you say you can't read them.............

Take your time................check your facts...............there isn't any rush

And PLEASE tell us where you got the 1938 cert....I've asked before, and you haven't responded.

xtootsy16x Report 5 Mar 2011 17:17

was suggested by a family member as they are older than my husband , he was very young and only vaguely remembered a few auntie & uncle names, his parents never said much as Eileen was a catholic & her husband Edward was a Jew, but my hubby seems to think it was his dads relations that he remembers, and nothing much about his mums side, so hoping he might find relatives on G.R that may want to exchange stories THANKS AGAIN

Sorry, I don't see an obvious marriage coming up for Alfred and Elizabeth. I have to go out now but will look back tomorrow - hopefully someone will have found it by then.

What prompted you to get the 1938 marriage cert?

Or did it come to you through family?

Flick

Flick Report 5 Mar 2011 16:38

Our postings crossed

You should have told us all this before................would have saved a lot of unnecessary searching

Flick

Flick Report 5 Mar 2011 16:35

When did Eileen die? What was her surname?

As she died so recently, one assumes that you knew her......did she ever say what her father's name was?

Doesn't your husband know the names of his grandparents?

To be perfectly honest, you seem to be approaching this search in the wrong way entirely.

Don't look for marriages of people who may - or may not - be siblings.

Get 100% accurate info about Eileen's parentage as your FIRST priority....then spread the search wider.........

Don't try to guess whether Horace is related...........he probably isn't, to be blunt.

If you would like us to help you - it is imperative that you help us to do so, by telling us clearly all you KNOW about Eileen.......and any of her relations about whom you have facts.

Eileen s birth certificate say her father was Alfred Robinson and was a builders labourer and mother was Elizabeth Robinson formally Shepherd. Eileen was born in West Ham 8th July 1914 Eileen was married to Edward Cash in West Ham in 1935 Thank you rootgather x

rootgatherer Report 5 Mar 2011 14:23

The first thing you need to do is get Eileen's birth certificate to confirm her parent's names. Do you have her marriage certificate please? What is her father's name and occupation on that?

Regarding Horace - you don't have any proof yet (or at least that you have shared with us) that Constance is related to Eileen.

Do you know where Eileen was born please? Do you know for sure that her mother's maiden surname was Shephard? Please tell us all you know if you want us to help.

If you are trying to do this without buying any certificates you could very easily end up with a completely inaccurate and worthless tree - especially with such a common surname.
