Been trying to help a friend with his tree.His grandad was born in 1889 in Newcastle.His daughter was Ann Mcmahon and she married a Thomas Jones in Newcastle in 1936 Thomas Jones was born 1915 in Newcastle.Looking through bmd i can only see a marriage for grandad Thomas Mcmahon to Catherine Callaghan?My friend said his nans surname was Banna? I can not find a marriage for Mcmahon and Banna.Please help before i am bald.

Can you just clarify a little? You didn't actually name the 1889 granddad.

He is Thomas McMahon?

I'm not totally convinced that Banna is a name, at least of long standing in England.

I came up with the same 1911 for McMahon-Callaghan.

Certainly fits the Catherine in the 1911 census to a T.

Caroline i have them 8 but there is no Thomas and no Mary.Mary is still alive,so dont think it can be Callaghan.Also another child was called Jean.Perhaps it could be Bannon.I will try down that line. Annie

If Mary consented, that would be the surest thing.

That way we could see what the mother's surname on the record is!!

Better still, why not just search for it at FreeBMD yourself, if you have her birthdate? Then you can just tell us the mother's surname.
