There is a Mary McMahon mmn Bannon Newcastle but would suggest this is the William and Margaret family too

There are loads of McMahon-Bannon births in Newcastle. Have you not checked them out on FreeBMD?

There's a Mary 1922, for instance.

It's always possible that the marriage wasn't in England, or that the wife had been previously married and didn't marry as Bannon.

The first thing you really need is a child's birth certificate to get the mother's full name. Is it not possible to get Mary's?

Annie, if you could give the birthdate of at least one of the children?

If Mary consented, that would be the surest thing.

That way we could see what the mother's surname on the record is!!

Better still, why not just search for it at FreeBMD yourself, if you have her birthdate? Then you can just tell us the mother's surname.

Caroline i have them 8 but there is no Thomas and no Mary.Mary is still alive,so dont think it can be Callaghan.Also another child was called Jean.Perhaps it could be Bannon.I will try down that line. Annie

Certainly fits the Catherine in the 1911 census to a T.

on freebmd mcmahon and callaghan had 8 children between 1911 and 1927 all born in newcastle ann being one of them.

I came up with the same 1911 for McMahon-Callaghan.

Might the Bannon marriage be a second, then?
