Find Ancestors

Could someone please find a birth or baptism notice for Elizabeth Fifield born 1854 in England. Her father's name was James on her marriage cert. Surrey, Lambeth.

I would also like to find her death notice, if possible. Her married name was Thomson.

Do you have her on a census after she married?

What about the witnesses? Any clues there?

The instructions do say to give *all* the info you have. Whom did she marry, and when? Finding her in a later census would provide essential details like place of birth, for finding her in earlier censuses / finding a birth record.

There is no marriage of a Thomson to an Elizabeth Fifield in the GRO index, barring mistranscription by FreeBMD.

She married William Hendrie Thomson in 1872 in Surrey. The only census record I have for her is an American 1880 census where their daughter Nellie Grace was born in 1875. William was a witness at Nellie's marriage in1904 in Wandsworth, Surrey.

No death before 1891 ...

Well, telling us she was IN THE UNITED STATES from 1880 would have been really useful, and spared me spending the time since reading your post searching in the ENGLISH censuses.

My last bit of advice will be to put this handy piece of info in your subject line, since what you are looking for is evidently US records.

In the 1861 census she was born in Micheldever. William Hendrie Thomson was still alive in Jersey according to the 1911 census. So not sure about her in 1891.

This one matches the Elizabeth Fifield I posted in 1861, and also the one I posted in 1891. Perhaps she returned to England ... perhaps you know ...

The only other births for that name around then are Elizabeth Mary 1852 in Kingston reg dist and Elizabeth Sarah 1857 in Elham reg dist.

I'd say the one I've posted is her.

You also have her father's occupation from her marriage certificate, most probably.

The James Fifield in 1861 I posted was a Railway Station Agent, born in the same place as that Elizabeth, as was her mother.

I have her marriage record. I knew her father was James, and that she went to the USA, where her daughter Nellie was born and apart from returning in1894, I didn't really know anymore until tonight.
