Katherine was 23. The witnesses were Andrew and Ann, but census retruns for 1871/81 show her parents as Andrew and Jessie. She was born in Petty, invernesshire |

This says that George Tudor Hall (1862-1898) married Catherine Aderne. |

To all who have helped thanks for time, interest and info. It looks as if this is the end of the line. I've come across Catherine Aderne, but she proved NOT to be George's spouse-----unless George remarried, or married bigamously to Catherine Aderne, riding on the similarity of ADERNE to NAIRNE??. That would explain the Gateshead census...but this is a question which I guess will remain unanswered. |

Ian, I just don't understand why you're riding madly off in all directions instead of focusing! |

I have reviewed the 1901 Gateshead census and have decided I do not have the right George. His occupation according to the Marriage Certificate, of which I have the download-image, is 'Accountant'. In view of his offence of forgery and embezzlement from the Glasgow City Chamberlain, he would very probably have lost his position as an accountant. I reject Gateshead on other grounds of family consistency |
