I think you're right,Janey.

How many times did William marry? 41 or so seems a tad old for his first one.

I'll guess this was his second marriage.

On Lindsey's theory of using a middle name (not that uncommon), there's this one:

Births Mar 1901
Taylor Henry William W. Ham 4a 458

and perhaps this one

Births Jun 1901
TAYLOR Henry William Strand 1b 607

but I don't see any in 1901 with father Thomas to fit.

Well I have trawled through 1901 census ,all the Williams measured in months, no Father fits, his mother doesn,t necessarily have to be alive either ?
He could also have invented a father,s name for the purpose of being repectable at his wedding?

Since I cant read the marriage cert and I had no reply regarding army information what can I do ?

I'm not sure why Whitenancy thinks there are different helpers on Tips ?

Going for a nap, my brain aches !

By the way, Chilton Avenue, Ealing, is the complete opposite end of London from "Cockney". It's about as far west of central London as Leytonstone / East Ham / Stratford are east/ENE.

Have you considered applying for his 1939 national identity card?

http://www.ic.nhs.uk/services/1939-register-service

"Data will be provided, as recorded on the 29 September 1939, only where the individual is now recorded as deceased. "

I suppose you might have any details it might provide already, since you presumably know who his first wife was, when and where she died, whether there were children to the marriage ... it's just that we don't.

After numerous questions in PM, I have some more details that might help. I don't think Lisa understands what are important facts and what should not be used as fact.

William Henry Taylor married Helen Gwendoline Rose Biggs in the Sept quarter 1941 in Birmingham.
Lisa has this information.

So Janey, your original find is correct. I also asked her if that was the correct year, because I too thought he a bit old.

There are 2 entries for a William H Taylor born Birmingham 1901. One is in the first quarter, and one in the 2nd quarter.

Good grief.

Lisa, could you try just reading the posts in the thread and answering the questions??

We need to know
(a) the real factual information you have
(b) the sources of that information

It's actually quite straightforward.

I'd particularly like to know what the "confirmation" is that the family from Leytonstone that I tracked around on the previous page is *not* the right family.
