Elsie Tomlinson marries Isiah Tomlinson in 1918

moves to Wakefield

has 2 children Margaret & Irene Whitehead

Isaiah dies 1923

Elsie marries John Brooks in 1937

possibly your friend only ever knew Elsie as Mrs Brooks and therefore assumed that was her childrens maiden name

possible alternative marriage for Irene, your friend should be able to confirm Irene's married name (in this case Wardle)

She was obviously born between marriages and given the name Whitehead.

Hi My friend just wanted me to pass on her thanks for all the help. I did wonder whether anyone could tell me how I can check passenger lists for boats going to Rio in 1948 -1950 for Elsie and her second husband. Thanks
