On London marriages on Ancestry site you can look at the actual certificate.

James's father was named on there as George, a weaver.

Ah gosh, Chris, that makes sense. Well done again !!!
I think I've caught up now (maybe ). I deleted 2 posts of mine because they were useless and the thread reads much better.

Not that it helps,but I did wonder about the Ba*ham connection. Elizabeth Green nee Ba*ham the widow who married James in 1905 doesn't seem to have ties with the Suffolk bunch .

Can anyone make out just what is after James Poole's occupation on the 1911 ? I think it says " nearly blind " . Could be wrong since I'm almost there myself.

That is interesting,Margaret . I'm hoping Chris or Dea or someone will be able to look at the 1911 image as well. You'll laugh,but on first glance I thought it read "nearly skint".

I think Susan's surname was Newland, a Marriage for her and Charles Barker 1874 Saffron Walden. (this comes under Esssex, and covers Clavering and nearby Langley)
