There are no births with a middle intial of G on BMD.

The G appears on the marriage entry.

There are two possible Geoffrey Cross's showing on freebmd. One baptised in 1924, and one in early 1925.

As PH posted, there are none showing with second forename beginning with G ...... but this is not unusual. Many babies are registered with only one name, and then the second name is added at baptism. The birth certificate is not amended in such cases.

Are there any more clues on that marriage certificate??

eg, names of witnesses?

when you say your nan was not married to him for very long, what is "not very long"???

There is a marriage for a Geoffrey G Cross registered at Hendon just 1 year later in December quarter 1945 .......... the same place where the marriage to your Nan is registered!

Sherrie,

There was no need to start a new thread on this. You should have updated your old thread with the marriage cert. details.

Sherrie

sometimes people get information wrong when they are registering a death.

It's because people don't always tell the truth to their relations or friends ...... or possibly to the care worker who has to register the death!

People often know the birth date and month of an older person, but may not know the year ...... so make a guess. Or the person themselves might have knocked 5 or so years off their actual age, because of vanity!

I was just intrigued because that is the only death registered for a Geoffrey George Cross up to 2005. He could still be alive of course!

Then I was intrigued by that other marriage which took place one year later in Hendon.

Your Nan must have divorced him (or been divorced by him) ............. have you seen any papers?
