Find Ancestors

Hi,
I'm hoping that someone will help me find some records for Bethune.

She pops up on the 1851 census,at Mellicks place Bermondsey, with her parents

Edward and Kezia Weeks nee Loffill

I can find no BMD for her, nor can I find her parents after 1851 on census.All I have found out is that Bethune is not a common first name and is a place in France!
All of her siblings were baptised,but not her it seems.

I have looked at the census image and it does say Bethune I think.At first I thought that the name may have not been recorded properly

Any help or advice would be very much appreciated

Hi Jan,
yes one of them is the Urquhart tree.
I'm the one who first found them the Loffills Weeks etc and collected as much as I could about them all.
But as a whole they have been very hard.

I know that the mother Kezia and her sister Elizabeth are about in 1868 as they both appear on Kezia's daughter Charlotte's marriage record as witness's
For some reason though the family appear to have dodged the Census and managed to not register the birth or death of Bethune!

Just checked and Kezia is a witness to the marriage of her son Edward in 1869

so if she/they did emigrate it would have been after that year
I don't have a death for Kezia or Edward either,so may be they did emigrate

I don't think that the 1861 is them even though it's the right area

The mother's name is wrong,although could be an error,also though I don't have a Sarah Weeks,so I shall have to find her birth to see if she is one of mine

I'm a bit tempted by that 1861 as both Edward sr's born Kent and jr. born Bermondsey. Both fathers labourers, dammit!

Hi,
Sorry to have taken so long getting back.
I've been checking my tree to see what I do have,in case I've missed something out.

Edwards brother Thomas married Kezia's sister Mary and Edward and Kezia were witness's to that marriage in 1835

It looks like this entire family is a huge brick wall for me.
What other records are there to search through that are not on line.Perhaps a trip to London at some point would help me

Thanks for that.
I have that record,Kezia's parents lived in that area . Caroline was was the eldest of the children.The family were living in Union street,Shoreditch at that time.Then they make the move to Bermondsey.

Perhaps I should try to look for Week's with the middle name of Bethune.

I haven't come across any so far though
