Thank you Jan, I had put it on earlier but it was mistranscribed as Landerson--but that proves that one --Its just the rest I have put on that I'm worried about now lol !! Could you check them out please. ?

There is also a Green and a Smith (first names ) Sanderson that could belong to Joshua --

Thank you for all those Barbara and brummiejan. I couldn't be with you earlier as I have been plucking elderberries for making wine ..... hick!
So my guess of a previous marriage for the first 3 kids (now 4) seems to fit.
As the line I am following is Bridget 1835 I am looking for mother Martha Dyson but the two possibles in 1808 in IGI in the Huddersfield area have nothing to make them conclusive.

Have you thought that Martha may have been married before marrying Joshua?

just a thought !!! for example

Event(s):
Birth: 27 APR 1807

I can't find a death for Abel--but neither can i find them on 1841 census

Oh Barbara you have really made my day. Whilst a previous marriage for Martha could have been possible to find in FreeBMD era, IGI is nowhere near as searchable. In fact the new Batch search is quite a problem.

I am not really expecting you to be able to answer my latest problem but this is where I am at :-

JOSHUA SANDERSON
Christening: 17 APR 1798 Almondbury, Yorkshire
Father: HENRY SANDERSON
Mother: MALLY BEARDSELL

MARTHA BEARDSELL
Christening: 28 OCT 1769 Almondbury, Yorkshire
Father: JOHN BEARDSELL
MARY 11 JAN 1764, SARAH 25 SEP 1765, HANNAH 31 OCT 1767, JAMES 30 JUN 1771, GRACE 02 NOV 1772,
JOHN 18 OCT 1773

JOHN BEARDSELL Marriage: 29 AUG 1763 Almondbury, Yorkshire
Spouse: BETTY GARLICK

BETTY GARLICK
Christening: 04 DEC 1741 Almondbury, Yorkshire
Father: JOSHUA GARLICK

JOHN BEARDSELL
Christening: 27 MAY 1742 Almondbury, Yorkshire
Father: JONAS BEARDSELL

JOHN BEARDSELL
Christening: 07 AUG 1742 Almondbury, Yorkshire
Father: JOSHUA BEARDSELL

So is Martha's father the son of Jonas or Joshua ?????

To be honest I stopped at this point last night and have not yet looked for clues in John's siblings......

Hi Frances

Lol !! we are going to end up related --My grandfathers sister marrired Herbert Beardsell --from Holmfirth i 1902 !!

I have done a search for Beardsell children born with father Joshua (1742 + / - 20 years )

these are what came up--father "Clothier" and address just says Holme

Thomas Beardsell abt 1738 Christening 18 Nov 1738 Almondbury, All Hallows Joshua Beardsell

John Beardsell abt 1742 Christening 7 Aug 1742 Almondbury, All Hallows Joshua Beardsell

John Beardsell abt 1742 Baptism 7 Aug 1742 Holmfirth, Holy Trinity Joshua Beardsell

Leah Beardsell abt 1748 Christening 21 Nov 1748 Almondbury, All Hallows Joshua Beardsell

Ellen Beardsell abt 1751 Baptism 1 Mar 1751 Holmfirth, Holy Trinity Joshua Beardsell

Thomas Beardsell abt 1761 Baptism Oct 1761 Holmfirth, Holy Trinity Joshua Beardsell

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Father Jonas---"Clothier" most say Holme --a couple says GreenGates ? could this just be the house address where they lived?

Hi Barbara,
Finding the links between your Herbert Beardsll 1902 and my Beardsell c.1740 could take you several weeks?
Thanks for all the potential siblings. I will now have to do some cogitating and perhaps reach no conclusion. You can't win them all!
