	We can't find her on the census records unless we know when she was born. Who is she with in 1871?

	jaded why not just post the census info here so everyone can see it instead of someone having to go looking for it and post it here ? :-) to help you search, everyone needs the same information you already have, there is no point in helpers being handicapped by not knowing what you know it will probably help if you read the 'please read before posting' message at the top of this board

	Where in Essex was she living in the census?

	jaded you can type ! you said you had her in the 1841 and 1871 censuses simple ... tell us what they say what is her year of birth, where was she born, where is she living ? for each census you have found her in nobody is going to be able to help unless and until you do that I'm afraid

	well I suppose this is 1841 ? Name: Mary Marshall Age: 40 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1801 Gender: Female Where born: Essex, England Civil parish: Thorpe Le Soken Hundred: Tendring County/Island: Essex Daniel Day 40 rat catcher ! Mary Marshall 40 Elisha Marshall 12 Daniel Marshall 17 George Marshall 9 Samuel Marshall 7 Joseph Marshall 8 John Marshall 5 Sarah Marshall 2 all are born in county ( Essex ) it looks like they are living as husband and wife but it is not possible to tell from the information in the census we really need the -1871- census information because that is the one that says where she was born, what her marital status was, etc.

	snap KempinaThermalhat ... but mine is much neater :-) if the youngest Sarah's birth was registered this could be her Births Sep 1839 Marshall Sarah Ann Tendring 12 257 but ... there is also Births Mar 1839 Day Sarah Jane Tendring 12 243 there is another Sarah Marshall aged 1 living in Tendring district in 1841 in Great Oakley with her parents William and Hannah a child born in late 1839 would be aged 1 in the 1841 census a child born in early 1839 would be aged 2 I tend to think Sarah Jane Day is the right one they are not living with Daniel Day in 1851 Name: Daniel Day Age: 50 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1801 Relation: Lodger Gender: M (Male) Where born: Tendring, Essex, England Civil parish: Thorp Le Soken County/Island: Essex

	How do you know that the Mary Marshall in the 1871 census is the same Mary in the 1841 census?

	I think the daniel day was the childrens father ........lol
