Hi all,

Struggling to find any info on their marriage and their parents. They married in 1911 in the Farnham district. Elsie was born in Brighton. They had a son, Victor (my grandad). I have no information as to where Harry was born. The only info I have on him is that he left Elsie (tut tut) and moved to South Africa.

Any info that anybody can dig up, then I'd appreciate it very much.

Thanks,
Sally

Sally, if you buy the marriage cert, it should give you Harry's father's name and occupation and Harry's age and occupation. You can then look for Harry on the 1911 census which should show his age and POB.

Their marriage registration:

Marriages Sep 1911 (>99%)
Parkes Harry E Farnham 2a 321
Terry Elsie Farnham 2a 321

Sally, I'll have a look at the census for you but I think you need to get a copy of the marriage certificate. The reference is Farnham district July-Sep 1911 vol 2A page 321

The certificate will give their father's names and, hopefully, their ages which would enable us to pinpoint them in the records.

Best wishes

Kim

From the Freereg site:

Richard Whitlock born 23 Jul 1841, baptised 22 Aug 1841 at St Mary the Virgin, Stoke Bruerne. Son of John (a tailor) and Rebecca

Do look at this site as Stoke Bruerne is well-covered and there are lots of Whitlocks.

I found the above Parkes family in Acton in 1901 at 21 Mill Hill Grove

The return states that Alfred Parkes was born in St John's Wood and Rosa Whitlock in Kentish Town. They have children Harry, Dorothy, Margarette and Rosa and another daughter, Lilian, aged 6. They also have a couple of lodgers. Alfred is shown as a restaurant cook.

Struggling to find Elsie in 1911. :-S

Potty

Potty Report 12 Sep 2011 14:53

Harrie's WW1 record is on Ancestry - if you don't have access, PM me your email address and I will send them to you.

He married Elsie Terry, 2nd August 1911 at Farnham Registrars Office.

Address given is 3 East Station Road and his occupation was pastry cook.

There is one child mentioned, Edward Leslie Francis, b 1916 Aldershot - the DOB is very faint.

When was Victor born?

Edit:

Is this Victor's birth? I wonder why he isn't mentioned on the Service Record?
