Find Ancestors

Hi All,
I have a problem which I have tried forward, backward and lateral thinking trying to solve.
Mary Ann Thompson b Birkenhead 13/9/1865, never married,was a midwife in Liverpool I think, d 1974 aged 108 years.
Gertrude Winifred Thompson b 8/2/1881, married aged 46 1925 to Robert Crawford, 1 son Ronald 1928 when she was 48 years.
d 1976 aged 95. these 2 sisters I knew.
There were other children James, went to US, Ellen (Nell) never married and Michael but their ages are not known.
I can't find them together on any census and I don't know their parents name.
This is a big ask, Can anyone help.
The only other bit of info I have is that Gertrude and her husband Robert Crawford owned a sweet shop in Seaforth Liverpool.

Have you found Gertrudes birth cert because born 1881 she skould be registered?

I cant see it !!

So her marriage cert didnt give the second name of Winifred

I nhave just phoned her grandaughter she said she thought she was born 1883/4 not 81. Her middle name was winifred which is also on her death record.

If Mary Ann and Gertrude were indeed sisters then to me it looks almost certain that Edwin and Elizabeth were almost certainly their parents. The 1891 census has their siblings James and Elenor (Nell) along with Gertrude.

Elizabeth's maiden name was Russell. It might be worth looking to see whether Mary Ann was with her maternal grandparents in 1881.

Elizabeth was born in Denbighshire, Wales.
