I think you've cracked it !

Might be expensive proving it but that's what certificates are for.

Well done you.

I have been searching long and hard and how about this....on the 1901 census Frances R Wood (ancestry have the name as WARD) and her son James are living with Thomas & Rosina HOLMES, Frances is listed as Daughter Married. Going back to 1881 Rosina is the wife of William WOODING, I have found a death record for William in Sheppey Kent 1885, then a marriage takes place between Thomas HOLMES & Rosina CHILDS in Sheppey Kent 1888.
There is also a marriage that takes place in Sheppey in 1892 between a John William WATTS & Frances Rose CHILDS in addition a birth is registered in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1896 of a James WATTS.
Another wedding now, again in Sheppey Kent 1903 between Rose WATTS & William James WOOD.
Now I know there are some irregularities with names and I am probably trying to make a square peg fit in a round hole but.... does it work for anyone else.

Thank you Mary, I had been told that Rose died young and James helped to look after his younger sister, and her young family, my Nan being part of that young family. I know James's family home was 12 West Street Gillingham, but I always assumed my nan had grown-up on the Isle of Sheppey so that helps sort that one out. Thank you.
