Sorry mgnv - this is a different family from John & Cordelia.

Margee - yes that is the correct one and I have now found that she married Ransome Chart Hodges in England and they lived here at least until he died about 18??.

MarieCeleste - Thank you for the exra information. Please don't waste any more time on this as I am going to finish looking for her now I know that she lived in England. I couldn't see the wood for the trees before but now I am in daylight again thanks to you.

There are a number of trees on ancestry that have Ellen marrying Ransom Chart Hodges born 1880 in US. They've copied off each other and it's codswallop!!

She married HER chap in England in 1872 and he was born 1851 in Romney Marsh.
