James Harrison, Carter, husband of Margaret died at 3 Regent Street, Greenock on 16th July 1913 aged 45 years.

Elizabeth wasn't born in scotland i've had that confirmed by inverclyde council, but she died there in 1924.

Johns father james was either b co down or co armagh as they differ on the census. it was johns wife mother called Isabella.
Johns mother was margaret marshall, b abt 1869? co armagh and she died in 1925 greenock.
I know james died before 1917 b abt 1860-1869? but not sure where.

Been delving on scotlandspeople site & i think i've found john on the census at long last with elizabeth & daughter elizabeth

Sue...There are many reasons why Margaret was with her grandparents..and often as simple as ..she was...also if Eliz. had another child b 1910 could be there was another on the way by 1911 and that would be 3 under 3...!!
Have you tried searching for an Elizabeth b 1910 Scot/ Ire...?

What does RFA stand for from Johns MC..?

John's father James was a Co Down man but Margaret was from the Co Armagh

Yes i did and it it the right person thanks, still leaves me where John & his family were living in 1911 tried Scotland didn't get any joy, unless i wasn't looking proper, i wonder why he left his daughter with her grandparents.
Do you have any access to irish records?

Yes it appears that Thomas was still living at home 1911 and away over in Glasgow in 1912....
Did you click on the "signature folder" at the very end of the line...that brings up their signatures...you can then compare John's from his MC to determine if it is the same person

What i don't understand is it was signed 28/9/1912 but the census was 1911, so i asumming John was in scotland but Thomas was still in Portadown when the census was done.

Elizabeths family looks very possible on UC

What is the Ulster Covenant? and what does it all mean.

So John and Thomas were actually in Glasgow when irish census were done & gave the Junction Row address in portadown or i;m i getting mixed up

I found john's parents on 1911 census if correct living at 7 junction row portadown his mother's name down as magarett with a son thomas

Neither John or his parents & siblings are coming up on the irish 1911 census, maybe the whole family moved to Scotland.

I have reference that john was a gunner in the RFA when he remarried but could of joined earlier

John Harrison is my grandfather & was b 12/6/1884 Ballyhannon Co Armagh & died 1951 Greenock Scotland. i never new him.

He remarried in 1917 to my grandmother.

I have him on the 1901 irish census with his parents james/margaret & siblings james & thomas in portadown armagh living in 16 henry street, he is not living with his parents on 1911 census
