Her late Grandma ( his sister) told her all about him many years ago, she only knows james' mother was called Josephine Williams.

Perhaps you or your friend can email them and see if there is an article which mentions James and Josephine and possibly the address you mentioned?

It's worth a try - if you do strike lucky (unfortunately not lucky for him) they sometimes have a photograph albeit of newspaper quality.

However, it would depend on the family whether there is an article or not.

I couldn't easily spot him in 1911 but I'm probably not as proficient as some people here.

I've found the following marriages on Lancashire bmd for people called Josephine who married someone with the surname Williams in Liverpool but is probably too much of a long shot. (years 1862-1907)
