Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone,

I am after some help tracing my Gt Gt Grandmothers parents .

Unfortunately she never married my Gt Gt Grandfather so am unable to fiind fathers name from marriage certificate.

Her name is Blanche Victorine Roye' born c 1862 France. The earliest record I have of her is her second childs birth in Glasgow Scotland in 1884 . I am unable to find my Gt Grandfathers birth although it must be about 2 yrs previous to this record in Glasgow as indicated in all english census'.

I have her death in 1933 in Birmingham but am unable to find any information about early life .

I have been on Geneanet and searched the name Roye but am a bit confused . What I really would like is for someone who has club priviledges on Geneanet to search her full name for me .

Yes that is Blanche.

For some reason she did not use Downs/Downes in the 1891 census. My GT Gt Grandfathers name was John Downs , he died in Jan 1891 so maybe that is the reason although in later years she always used Downs .

It's strange that in 1891 - when he was already deceased - she used Roye and stated she was single. Yet in 1901 and 1911 she uses Downs and is a widow.

Do you know when she came to Britain?

She would have had to have arrived between 1884 and 1888 .

In 188 their daughter Blanche is born in Scotland and in 1888 their third child John is born in May 1888 in Birmingham.

Where was andrew Born? 1891-ish. you say she didn't arrive until later than that
