Find Ancestors

Hi

Would someone be kind enough to do a look up for me on 1911 census? I am trying to find Charles Edward Sharples born in Mitcham, Surrey but I don't know what year.

He married Mary Ray in Wandsworth in 1917 but he had a child already - Dorothy Phyllis Brown. I have found a Dorothy Phyllis Brown on Freebmd born 1901 Wandsworth and I have found a possible marriage for him to Julia Jane Brown in 1909 but I have tried to find them on 1911 census but no luck.

How can you possibly know where he was born - if you don't know when?

It doesn't add up

The Brown girl is unilkely to have been his if she was born 8 years before what you think is his marriage to her mother

Buying the 1917 marriage cert would be a good idea

Thank you. Well that must be the Charles and Julia marriage that I found on Freebmd but as far as I know he only had the one child, Dorothy, when he married Mary,

Well the reason I know where he was born is because a relative told me but obviously they could be wrong. They did not know his year of birth though.

I was also informed that Dorothy was his child and I did say that I had found a possible marriage not a definite one.

You need documentary backup - preferably the cert of the marriage you KNOW to be correct.

Does anyone know when and where this man died?

Charles died in Ypres, France in 1917.

Have you tried looking for his birth?

I just checked freebmd

Yes I have seen these two but I had Mitcham in my head so if he wasn't born in Mitcham it could be either one since I don't know his year of birth.

Thanks for the information. The date of birth doesn't fit in with the 2 on Freebmd. Not sure about wrong middle name though - his daughter who was born in 1917 after Charles had died was quite sure on Mitcham and his name.

He'd have been 13/14 in1901, when he was supposedly fathering a daughter
