John Ladd was born 1811 in Margate, Kent. He died in Aus. 1862. I have info on him until 1851 uk census and his daughter's wedding in uk was 1854.

His brother Edward Wilds Ladd, my gt.gt.gt. grandfather was born 1800 same place. and have plenty of info on him in the uk. But, I think he went out to Aus. because a descendent of his son Matthew sent me photos taken over there. I presume only shipping records would prove he was there? He died in the Uk in 1879. It's a long shot - maybe possible that photos were taken of his portrait which is in Aus? And he didn't go out there at all. Lx

haha! Am so happy to have found this much. What's next, am not sure, but would really love to find out if Minnie Jane & Chas. Thom. had any surviving children. I seem to remember seeing burial records in Perth in the name of Leveson Gower.
Also, John Ladd & wife Jane Catherine went out to Aus but I can't find any record of them once there other than John's death date. Their daughter Sarah Mummery Barber I think went with them. Minnie Jane's parents, Edward Wilds & Eliz. Ladd also went out to Aus. but no idea when. That would be a great find too. He was brother to John. Is that confusing? It's getting late!
