Gins,
I have looked at the Young stuff you have given and have tidied my file on them. The death of Elizabeth Mary Ann Young was great as I have found her burial is listed on the deceased online index, so I now know where and when she is buried as well.

I am now about to start looking at the Atherton's you found in more detail, it does seem very likely Elizabeth Sarah is of the family you have found.

Even more!
Well I never thought I would get anywhere with Atherton's.

Time to digest.

Thanks
Josie

Yeah, I guessed as much.

I havent posted other Atherton details, going back to 1600s, I thought I would leave you to establish a time line first

Come back to this thread when you have had time to digest all the info

Good luck

Oh Gins this is all wonderful and it seems to all link in. Would it be to much to ask if anything shows for Robert on the 1841 census.

I can't believe what the time is, been on here all afternoon and I only meant to come on hear earlier for a short time. Better make sure I am lying down before hubby gets in from visiting his mother, I didn't go because of an awful cold I've got so was meant to be having me feet up, well I've done that, I'm sitting on the chair with them on the chair.

Will come back on here later.
Thanks for all your help.

Looking at this I am very surprised that Alexander Young & Elizabeth Sarah Atherton had banns read. When my daughter got married she couldn't have banns, they had to get a common licence (different from the normal licence) as for some reason Scotland isn't part of the English system although Wales & Northern Ireland are. Our vicar had to ask as he had never performed a marriage of someone from Scotland marrying someone from England before. I can't remember what he said about it she married in Scotland but banns would still not be allowed to be read. Maybe Alexander was living in England, or made out he was, or maybe the vicar hadn't done his homework.

This is a long shot but can anyone find either of these marriages in the London/Middlesex area

1. Alexander Young born 1795 and Elizabeth Sarah Atherton born c1805, their first child was born in 1826 in St Giles Middlesex and baptised St George Bloomsbury.

2. Robert Atherton and Sarah, I think her maiden name was Price by her daughter's death certificate.
I have no other details on Robert & Sarah other than thier daughter Elizabeth Sarah was born about 1805, and that Robert was a Carver & Gilder and a member of the Society of Odd Fellows, I know he was alive in 1821.

Many thanks

Many thank both of you.

As for Robert & Sarah, the death image I have from Scotlands People for their daughter Elizabeth Sarah clearly states her mother as Sarah Atherton MS (then it appears to be Price) but it is not unusual mistakes even on original documents so it could be Mary or Sarah. Could be the same one or a different one. Shame his occupation wasn't down, but then that could have changed I suppose.

Where has my last reply gone? it's disappeared.

No what did I put? something like I've done it, but you already know that. And something like
By the time I read your message about not putting another thread on, I had already done it, and when I went back to delete it, there were a couple of messages, so I let it stand. It is different to this as apart from asking for the marriage of Charles Young and Elizabeth Sarah Atherton, which has been answered as far as banns are concerned, I was hoping to find out something about Elizabeth Sarah's parents as I knew their names. Have got a possible marriage now although a query on the name.

woops just found previous message hadn't clicked page 2. Silly me, Oh and thanks for the above

Many thanks all.
I have already seen the 1911 image and that is him at his niece Charlotte's. That was a great find as I hadn't managed to find him or his siblings (apart from my great grandfather) since the Scottish 1851 census.
Elizabeth on the 1891 & 1901 census is his sister although she was born in Edinburgh but the age is right. so another great find.

Many thanks all again
