Find Ancestors

I am trying to find out about one of my ancestors named Thomas Paull. I have a baptism record from Winsham Parish Church (Chard, Somerset) for Thomas Paull, 02/07/1843, parents Louis and ........., father's occupation Labourer. I got this record from a transcription on 'Winsham Web Museum' but the records are on PDFs which look like they've been copied from a spreadsheet, but bits of the information are missing, like the mothers name, and of course there may be transcription errors. I think this must be the right record though, because my Thomas' parents are John Lewis (known as Lewis or Louis) and Elizabeth (nee North). However, on freebmd and Find My Past the only birth records for Thomas Paull, Chard, are Q4 1845, so I'm not sure which year is right? Just to confuse things, the 1861 Census gives his year of birth as 1844 (I know Census returns are notorious for having the wrong dates on though!) Is there an easy way to resolve this, other than ordering a Birth Certificate?

Thank you so much for your very quick reply. So my baptism record is right! I wonder why freebmd and FMP are showing 1845 as year of birth? I'm assuming the records are for the same Thomas Paull? Could this be the year the birth was registered, rather than year of birth? If so, it's a bit confusing, because the year of birth is often the only way to identify a person as being the right one, especially with more common names.

Wow, what a lot of information! Thank you so much! Another interesting name variation too -1841 Census for Eve Paull shows her living with the Foneys, rather than the Forseys, who are also related to my family!

I've unmarked this thread as answered now, because the extra info raises more questions! I didn't know that Charlotte Paul had died in the US. She appears on the 1861 Census, but must have gone to the States soon after, as she died in 1863. Her brother Charles and his wife Alice went to Utah shortly after their marriage in 1870 and I have information on their family from another GR Member. I also didn't know that Lewis had died in the US, I don't know when he went, but that answers the question of why him and his wife were visiting family on the 1871 Census. I assume his wife went with him to the States? It also says that he had 3 marriages, so what happened to Elizabeth?
I can't find anything else about Thomas and William, I wonder if they went to the US as well?
