I can't find them on the electoral registers

although there is a marriage of Kenneth W Robson to June E P Doughty in Lewisham in 1954

and William A Robson to Nina D Doughty in Ilford in1944

so I may be barking up the wrong tree (as it were) on the births

Back to Scotland then :-(

EDIT Actually those Lewisham deaths are too good a match and I think they must be correct. The names are right and the dates of birth match the ones found on Scotlands People. So at some stage, they have moved south.

I've e-mailed Lewisham to see if they can tell me where William and Wilhelmina are buried. There may be family info on a headstone.

Just thought I should say.... you are doing a fantastic job on this one.
I am so rooting for Happydaze and that she gets her answers quickly.
Just a thought... With any luck, those parents will be buried in Lewisham and if so, who owns the grave?
I am hoping it is their recently deceased son, and that there is space for him too.

It is so difficult, as the authorities requested that as friends we make a decision to turn of the life support machine after their cock up and yet now we're not allowed to do anything and they want the keys to the flat etc even tho' Bill had entrusted us with the. So that they can conduct the paupers funeral, this saturday and only 3 people are allowed to attend!!! They're saying we can't do one for him as we're not next of kin.............aaaaarrrrgh, sooooo much red tape!

Sorry for the frustrated rant.

We reaaly do appreciate your support, our brains are completely fried at the moment.

Bit of a long shot, but why don't you phone Lewisham in the morning and explain what is happening. See if they can tell you over the phone if there's space in the parents graves. (Are you in London by the way?)

Thankyou for your email both Wilhemina & William were cremated here at Hither Green Crematorium.
William died 30th July 1991 and was cremated on 7th August 1991 his cremated remains were removed by the funeral directors as requested by his wife.
Wilhemina died 19th February 2003 and was cremated on 3rd March 2003 her cremated remains were scattered in our grounds area G2.

The death cert for Wilhemina Joyce Robson might be useful, In fact if your rang Lewisham they might ( Might!) tell you tha name of the person that registered her death. Tell them your circumstances and they might be willing to help.

Having worked for the Local Authority & had some dealings with the disposal of people who die without relatives, I find it a bit odd that the Local Authority want to fund a pauper´s funeral when there is someone who wants to take responsibility.
Might be worth contacting the Court of Protection.........although things may be different in Scotland.

Sorry. My mistake. As the original request was for look ups in Edinburgh, I assumed that was where the person had died.
Would still have thought that the Local Authority would have been pleased that someone was willing to take over the funeral arrangements.

The Scottish lookups are in pursuit of siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins.

I agree with you. It surely must be possible for friends to organise a funeral if there's no family.
