Find Ancestors

Ok people,

My great great grandfather is Seth Denchfield, he married Eliza Baker in 1900 in Wing.

They had 2 children - Lotty Elizabeth born 1895 and Ivy Gladys born 1907.

I recently noticed on the 1911 census (even though I have looked at it several times!!), that it states they had 3 children, 2 living and 1 died.

I did not know about this sibling that had died.

How am I to find out the other child?

There are many Denchfields born and registered in their area of Leighton Buzzard so
I am stuck how to try and narrow it down without having to purchase hundreds of certificates!

Any help would be appreciated.

If they married in 1900 then do you have the birth cert for Lotty Elizabeth born 1895 ?

The way i find best to search for a child who died is NOT to search births first

search for deaths first then cross reference the deaths by searching for their births

Yes I do have the birth cert for Lotty in 1895 .

I will look for deaths, thanks for that, though it may take a while as
I am unsure of the age that the child died.

All I know now is that it was before 1911!

Hmmmm there is another family in the same place who has the mother listed as 'Salome'


Could be her childs death?

As Charlotte was born before marriage.....perhaps the child who died was also pre-marital

Possible Gins but it's also possible that both families are related and the naming of the child was due to that connection?

I was named after my grandmothers brother

In 1911, the couple have been married 26 years.......had 6 children, of whom 3 have died

As Reggie said i had that same thought? The 1901 and the 1890 census should help

As the question on the 1911 census asks for children to that marriage and surviving children to that marriage then Salome is still my choice

Salome is on the 1901 with parents George and Salome then she dies before the 1911
