Patchem/Derek

The original emigration record could read aged 5 for Sarah. Its not very clear.
I gather the children were not sent out until the age of 4 from something I read during my look ups.

Dear All,

Now can confirm that 1911 census details are correct. The family believe that James was a orphan and he sailed from Bristol to Canada to work on a farm. Also he was born in Dec. 1882,he drowned in the St. Lawrence river in Canada onboard the Ocean Hawk which was a tug boat that sank with all aboard in 1925.
He married Irene Agnes Cameron and they had 5-6 children one being Florence Irene.

The more I read this I'am sure James Richard Belmont/Balmont is connected.

He was born dec 1884 and Christened by Richard and Caroline 1885 the same couple who had sarah Ann 1883.

Richard Balmont/Belmont @ 1866 married Caroline Cummings 1883 in Bristol.

No sign whatsoever for any of them 1891.
1901Census Great Ann Street.
Caroline has daughter Susan age 1(Susan Louisa Belmont 1899 Bristol)
Caroline married but Richard is with brother James Thomas Balmont born @ 1868 Bristol in Wales.
On that census Richard married.

Caroline died 1905
1911 Susan inmate at Childrens Home 862,Fishponds Rd Bristol.
1911 Richard still at brothers in wales now he is a widow.

Richard's parents Thomas and Elizabeth.
Caroline's dad James.

So his age would fit 1884 but the parents are a mystery.
I wonder if they were who he lived with in Canada!

He maybe had been adopted like Sarah Belmont.

Hi Vera and Mary,

He was an orphan, so may well have been adopted.

Thanks for your efforts.
